What’s Happening in Our Cancer Community?

No Cost Weekend Retreat for Alaska Breast Cancer Survivors

Casting for Recovery is a national non-profit support and education program that provides weekend retreats, at NO COST, for women in any stage of breast cancer treatment or recovery. Our quality of life program combines the sport of fly fishing with psychosocial and medical support to promote mental and physical healing. The casting motion of fly-fishing is beneficial for soft-tissue stretching and is similar to the exercises doctor's prescribe to women following surgery or radiation for breast cancer.

The Alaska Program of Casting for Recovery will hold a retreat on August 2-4, 2013 in Willow, AK.  Fourteen women, selected at random, will be chosen to attend.  Meals, lodging, instruction and all equipment will be provided. The deadline to apply is June 9th.  A retreat notice/application is attached.

The retreat is an opportunity for women to experience nature in a meaningful way and create a dynamic and fun support group with other women who have experienced a similar medical journey. For more information, please visit: www.castingforrecovery.org

If you have questions, please contact Heather Wolcoff at cfrheather@gmail.com or (907) 357-2327 or (907) 748-2327.
